Gladys Lorraine "Lolly" MacDonald, of New Glasgow,
passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Glen Haven
Manor.
Born in Pictou Landing, she was a daughter of the late
William and Lulu (MacPherson) Eaton.
Lolly lived in Pictou Landing for most of her life having
moved to New Glasgow in 1987. She was a 38-year employee of CIBC, New
Glasgow. She was also a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou
Landing.
Lolly enjoyed life to the fullest and was happiest around
people. She was truly a "people person". In her early years,
she enjoyed swimming, skating, Old Time dances and more recently,
playing cards.
She is survived by her husband, Neil MacDonald, New Glasgow;
son, Billy Gallant (Betty), Trenton; grandchildren: Billi Jane
(Bryan); Allison; Justin (Pele); Hope (Chris); great-grandchildren:
Penelope, Levi and Olivia; sister, Jed (Bruce) Stevens, Saint John,
NB; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her first husband, Roy Gallant; sisters: Gloria,
Josephine and Pat; nieces: Lou Ann and Elizabeth.
Lolly’s family would like to thank the staff at
Glen Haven Manor for the excellent care and compassion extended to her
over her stay at the Manor. They would also like to thank Dr. John
Hamilton and the ophthalmology staff at St. Martha’s
Hospital in Antigonish for the kind care she received during her many
trips there.
There will be no visitation. Funeral 2pm Thursday, July 11,
at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with Mr.
Fergie MacKay officiating. Reception to follow. If so desired,
donations in her memory may be made to Summer Street Industries or a
charity of choice.
