The death of "Sue" Susan Cecilia Richards occurred
in New Glasgow on July 28, 2024.
Originally from Trenton, she was born in New Glasgow on
August 21, 1945. She was predeceased by her
parents, Nicholas and Patricia "Patsy", as well as siblings,
Yvonne, Barry and Brian.
She left Pictou Co and moved to Toronto where she was
employed by the federal government. Upon
her return to Nova Scotia, she was employed as a home care provider
for many residents of Pictou County. Over the years
she had multiple interests and loves: reading, photography, nature,
fresh cut flowers, bird watching, many genres of music, bicycling,
listening to CBC, Charlie Brown and the gang, especially
Snoopy.
She leaves behind sisters: Heather (Brent Steele), New
Glasgow, Veronica, Amherst; nephews, Christien (Leola), Justin
(Debbie), and their families; dearest cousin, Geraldine; and best
friend forever, Blaine Ash. She will be remembered
for her kindness, determination, her will to live, for saying it like
it was and for being small but mighty.
An epitaph would read her own recent words: "Thank you
for taking care of me; I tried."
A small gathering of her friends and family will take place
from 2-3pm Wednesday, July 31, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont
Ave., New Glasgow, with words of remembrance by Veronica at 3pm.
Cremation and private family burial at a later date. Donations in her
memory may be made to Pictou County Food Bank.
