"There are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet."

Harold was born in Truro, NS in 1951. He grew up exploring Victoria Park with his brother Ian (Emily), and late brothers, Dalton (Dawn) and Anthony (Wendy), while tormenting his sisters, Paige (David) and Sandra (George). His mother, Emeline Adams (nee McLean, Purdy), ran a tight ship, which may or may not have contributed to Harold’s fear of wooden spoons.

From his first visit at just nine days old, Spencer’s Point captured Harold’s heart and became his favorite place to be. He loved spending time with his wife, Margie, daughters, Lauren (Jeff), Morgan (Andy), and his beloved grandchildren, Owen and Emilia; as well as his honorary daughter, Martha, "oldest boy" Martin and their children, Gaia and Ellie. Many happy memories were made with cottage friends and family; fishing, playing Scrabble, cooking, eating and enjoying happy hour at the bank.

Harold has made friends all over the world. He was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He was generous with his time, hugs, and jokes. There was no such thing as a quick trip to the grocery store, as he knew everybody and their dog. In New Glasgow, Harold loved connecting with his friends through pickleball, choir, dinner parties, and playing cards and pool.

Harold will be deeply missed by all. Friends and family are invited to the Little Harbour Community Center on Tuesday, October 29 between 2-4pm to share memories and celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Donations may be made in Harold’s memory to Diabetes Canada or the Little Harbour Community Center.
