Karin Monica Burns, 72, of Glencoe, Pictou County, died on November 23, 2024 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

Monica is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ron; a daughter Stacey, Toronto; two sons: George Smith, New Glasgow; Ronnie Smith, Thorburn; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

She was predeceased by two sons, Jamie Burns (in infancy) and Donnie Smith. 

Monica worked for 25 years with the VON and loved her time supporting people in their homes.  She also enjoyed home renovating and decorating for which she had a great talent. She was happiest when digging in her garden and planting flowers. 

Final arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. There will be no funeral service by request.  Donations in Monica’s memory may be made to the VON or the Pictou County Palliative Care Society.
