It is profound sadness to announce the passing of John
Douglas "Hun" Sheehan on February 2, 2025 at the age of
97yrs old.
Doug lived in the Northend of New Glasgow all of his life and
worked at Maritime Steel for 56 years, finally retiring at the age of
74.
Doug married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth (Foote),
and celebrated their 66 th anniversary.
Doug had few hobbies, but he had the ability to fix anything,
including electrical, plumbing, carpentry or
automotive.
Doug enjoyed the simple things in life, spending the summers
at the cottage on Sinclair Island where you could find him weeding the
garden, boating or on the swing with his wife. When at home, Doug
would cut through the backyard and visit his mother and
brothers’ home to watch wrestling and have a cup of
tea.
Doug is survived by his sister, Frances Thompson;
brother-in-law, Jamie Foote; sister-in-law, Marion Foote; children:
Peter, David (Susan), Robert, Mary Beth and Philip (Amanda);
grandchildren: Curtis, Katie, Daniel, MacKenzie, Maggie, Marlee and
Maxwell; great-grandchildren: Guinevere, Augustine and
Sonny.
Doug was predeceased by his wife, Mary; father, Daniel
Sheehan; mother, Mary (King) Sheehan; brothers: Daniel
"Bud", Raymond "Bish", Gordon "Pork",
Angus, David; and sisters: Elizabeth Millen and Dolly MacDonald;
brother-in-law, Bob Foote.

Medicine, 5-South and Glen Haven Manor.
Visitation 6-8 pm Friday, February 7, in R.H. Porter Funeral
Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. No funeral by request. Graveside
service in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Donations in his
memory may be made to Holy Cross Cemetery or a charity of
choice.
