Helen Rose Bonvie (nee Aikens) passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, to Robert and Edna Aikens (nee Colquhoun).

Helen met her husband Vernon at Bell Telephone where they were both employed. They were married for 59 years. Helen was the caregiver for Vernon for many years after his Parkinson’s diagnosis. Before and after his death, she was a faithful member and fundraiser for the Parkinson Society of Nova Scotia.

In her younger years, Helen excelled in square dancing, speed skating, and bowling, winning numerous trophies along the way. Her dedication to daily crossword puzzles made her a formidable opponent in family trivia nights, consistently emerging victorious.

A devoted member of the Trenton Church of the Nazarene, Helen served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Throughout her life, Helen and Vernon cherished their travels, embarking on journeys to visit their children across Canada and the United States.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and siblings Lloyd, Evelyn, Molly Carolyn, Lola, Warren and Doris.

Helen is survived by her son, David Bonvie (Marnie), and daughter, Janet Reeder (Stan), along with their grandchildren, Chris (Meghann), Emie (Brad), Brett, Reed (Whitney), and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Bauer, Lily, Bella, Brendan, and Tayvee; sisters, Eva, Isabel, Diane, and sister-in-law, Shirley.

Visitation 10am-11am Friday, July 11, 2025 followed by service at 11am, at Church of the Nazarene, Trenton. Reception to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home.
