Helen Rose Bonvie (nee Aikens) passed away on February 4,
2025, at the age of 94. She was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, to
Robert and Edna Aikens (nee Colquhoun).
Helen met her husband Vernon at Bell Telephone where they
were both employed. They were married for 59 years. Helen was the
caregiver for Vernon for many years after his Parkinson’s
diagnosis. Before and after his death, she was a faithful member and
fundraiser for the Parkinson Society of Nova Scotia.
In her younger years, Helen excelled in square dancing, speed
skating, and bowling, winning numerous trophies along the way. Her
dedication to daily crossword puzzles made her a formidable opponent
in family trivia nights, consistently emerging
victorious.
A devoted member of the Trenton Church of the Nazarene, Helen
served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Throughout her life,
Helen and Vernon cherished their travels, embarking on journeys to
visit their children across Canada and the United
States.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and siblings
Lloyd, Evelyn, Molly Carolyn, Lola, Warren and Doris.
Helen is survived by her son, David Bonvie (Marnie), and
daughter, Janet Reeder (Stan), along with their grandchildren, Chris
(Meghann), Emie (Brad), Brett, Reed (Whitney), and Zachary;
great-grandchildren, Bauer, Lily, Bella, Brendan, and Tayvee; sisters,
Eva, Isabel, Diane, and sister-in-law, Shirley.
Visitation 10am-11am Friday, July 11, 2025
followed by service at 11am, at Church of the Nazarene, Trenton.

direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home.
