Matilda Agnes Fillmore, age 73, of Plymouth passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by family. Born in Lundy and raised in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Pero.

Mom was a fixture at the Bank of Nova Scotia for over 30 years of service. She worked in numerous branches in the county and her care and compassion with the public was her top priority and something she genuinely loved. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed long walks, chats, and many cups of tea.

She loved and adored her family, both those near and far. She especially spending time with her grandchildren, Amelia, Elizabeth, and Finn. She always cherished the precious moments she had with each of them. Mom was ever present when it came to her family dynamics. She was always there to lend support, offer advice, or lend an ear at the kitchen table while the tea pot was brewing.

Tilly was an advocate of a hard work ethic. No matter how well you did, what mattered was how hard you worked. Her accountability, effort, and persistent dedication to anything was unmatched, always encouraging you to do "what makes you happy." Mom was not much of a traveller but in her retirement, she got to see some beautiful places and make some wonderful memories with those with whom she travelled. Those experiences, though brief, are thoughts and memories that will ripple through time. Small but mighty, she was the glue of a family. She was always there when needed and if she could not do it, she had "Ricky" in tow to make sure the job got done.

She is survived by her loving husband Rick Fillmore; daughter, Suzanne (Josh) Banks, Squamish, BC; son, Shaun (Lori) Fillmore, Stellarton; sisters: Marie (Paul) Works, Abercrombie; Margaret England, Stellarton; Marlene (Michael) MacNaughton, Westville; brother, John, New Glasgow, and special uncle but more like a brother, Peter Pitts, New Glasgow; brother-in law, Donald (Sheila) Turner; sister-in law, Elaine (Bob) McVey; as well as numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close family friends.

She was predeceased by sister Mary; brothers-in-law Wayne England and Bob MacIsaac.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to the staff at Valley View Villa and to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Visitation will be at R.H. Porter Funeral Home from 6-8pm Monday, March 3. Funeral service will be at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 4 at 11am, with Father Godwin Kalu presiding. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Summer Street, New Glasgow.
