It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our
dear Alice Carrigan, 76, of Douglas Street. Alice passed away in the
early morning on Saturday, March 8th, 2025. Alice was born in New
Glasgow and was the daughter of the late Evelyn June
Desmond.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and
friend. She was a former member of Br. 34 RCL where
she marched in countless parades. As a young woman she worked at Shady
Oaks Nursing Home. She used to love to crochet and
create beautiful bedspreads and chesterfield/chair
throws. One of her favorite activities was building
puzzles. She would always have a puzzle on the go at any given time.
Alice was also a fan of the World Wrestling Entertainment and enjoyed
spending time with her beloved dog
Mya.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Corey (Stephanie) and
daughter, April of New Glasgow; her sisters: Annette (Greg) MacLean of
New Glasgow; Jessie (Daryl) Johnson of Moncton, New Brunswick; Carolyn
"Dudy" of Montreal; uncle Jim (Linda) of Kingston NS;
grandchildren: Keisha, Joseph, Ebony and Chyna; and 3
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her maternal grandparents, Isaac and Jessie
(Paris) Desmond, her mother, Evelyn June (Desmond) Graham, she was
predeceased by her sisters: Karen "Tiny" and Juanita; her
aunts: Isabelle, Bessie, Annie, Shirley, Margaret, and Eileen; and her

A Celebration of Life will take place at 2pm on Saturday
March 15th at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New
Glasgow with Annette MacLean officiating. Alice will be laid to rest
alongside her mother and sisters in Lorne Street Cemetery. Donations
in her memory may be made to the SPCA Nova
Scotia.

their service.
