It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anne Doiron at the age of 84 years. Anne passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, and holding her daughter’s hand, on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Born on December 30, 1940, in Pomquet NS, Anne was the beloved daughter of Francis and Esther (Doiron) Broussard. She was raised in an Acadian household alongside her two brothers and two sisters. In her early adult life, she lived in Pictou, NS, where she met and married her husband, Bunty, and raised their daughter Denise. Although Bunty’s life was sadly taken too soon, her love never faded; she often recalled her memories of their time together living in Pictou and forming many lifelong friendships.
Anne was passionate, caring, and generous. A true French woman at heart, she was quick to greet her loved ones with a cheerful smile, a warm tight hug, and two big kisses on the side of each cheek. She was a devoted Nanny to her two grandchildren, Colin and Kelsey, and was overjoyed to meet and hold her great granddaughter Rhea.
Anne found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like a quiet moment in the morning with a cup of coffee while watching the birds outside the window, a good game of cards with friends, tending to her plants and pet budgies, or spending time with her family sharing a home cooked meal. She took pride in everything that she did and loved to craft and sew, creating beautiful quilts that she would gift to those she held dear. A lover of nature and the great outdoors, she spent many summers fly fishing for salmon and trout along the rivers of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. She loved to tell of the adventures she had meeting new friends on fishing trips, and the fun times she enjoyed on cruises.
Anne will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Denise (John) McInnis; grandson, Colin (Robyn) McInnis; granddaughter, Kelsey (Greg Dunn) McInnis; siblings: Kevin (Jeannine) Broussard and Betty Robichaud; sisters-in-law: Mary Broussard, Doris Jollymore, Eleanor (Ken) Donovan, Rose (Stu) Daley; brothers-in-law: Raymond Salsman and Jim Doiron and a chosen son, Michael Thorne. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Bernard "Bunty" Doiron; siblings: Mary Salsman and Joe Broussard; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Patrick and Anne Doiron; brothers-in-law: Wilfred Doiron, Arthur Robichaud and Gerald Jollymore. Anne will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Valley View Villa who took special care of her over the past five years, making it a warm and caring place for her to live. Thanks also goes to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Aberdeen Hospital fourth floor and Palliative Care who made Mom’s last days comfortable with their gentle care. The remains are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11am – 12pm followed by a funeral service at 12 pm on Saturday, May 24th, 2025. Donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia or the Palliative Care Unit c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation.
