Beryl Frances McPherson passed away peacefully at the age of 74, on June 16, 2025 at Green Meadows Community Residence for Seniors, North Grant, Antigonish. Born in Glace Bay on March 4th, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Roy and MaryAnn Rachel McPherson.
Beryl was employed by APSEA as a teacher and was a member of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union. After receiving her Teacher of the Deaf diploma in 1983, she worked for many years with children who were deaf and hard of hearing all across Nova Scotia. She was truly dedicated to her career and to the children with whom she worked, retiring in 2017.
Beryl was an avid walker, enjoying her time outdoors. Many of her summers were spent with family in Margaree Harbour. She spent countless hours with her nieces and nephews and was generous with her time, support, and love. She loved her sisters, time with close friends and family, Cape Breton music, and a good laugh. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family loved her dearly.
Surviving are her sisters: Lorraine (Art) MacLean, New Glasgow; her twin sister, Beverly (Gordon) Laurence, Margaree Harbour; and Troye (Pat) Kyte; Hedgeville. She was a much-loved aunt to: Holly, Chris, Jamie, Emily, Nathan, Andrew, and Courtney and is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to all of the staff at Green Meadows for their loving care and kindness towards Beryl for the time she spent under their care.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Homes, New Glasgow.
Beryl’s family will celebrate her life privately at a later date. If so desired, a donation in Beryl’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
