It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George Cameron MacDonald who passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025 at the age of 94 in New Glasgow, NS. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

George was born on January 26, 1931 in River John, NS. He was a son of Joseph Gordon MacDonald and Mary Gertrude Rogers. George was predeceased by wife, Martha Reid; daughter, Caroline; son-in-law, Peter; five brothers and three sisters.  He is survived by son, Michael; grandchildren: Matt, Lauren, Emily, Katie and six great-grandchildren.

George dedicated his life to his family, his career, his community. He worked as a manager and regional manager in the financial services sector. He was a Mason (Unity Lodge #4); Lion, and member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid golfer and curler.

Gravesdie service will take place at 11am Saturday, August 2, at Hamilton Cemetery, River John, NS. The family requests donations be made to Canadian Red Cross in George MacDonald’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home.
