Sheliah Marie Munroe, born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on May 7, 1937, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on July 16th. Sheliah was a devoted wife and mother. Though Jook passed before her, their life in New Glasgow was filled with many years of happiness and lots of time on the golf courses. 

In her early years, Sheliah became an incredible seamstress, needle pointer, and craftswoman, taking many courses and often creating her own clothes. She was always happy to share her crafts and wreaths to friends and family.

Sheliah was teased with many nicknames including G-ma, She-she, Queenie, and her very first nickname, "Wagon," lovingly given by her first grandchild, Kristen.

Sheliah loved gardening, hunting for deals throughout her travels, and spending time with the people she loved. She was the most vibrant and beautiful person and always took her time to stop and chat. She was always dressed up to go out, wearing a stylish hat, as if she was ready to attend the next event. Most of all, she was loving and kind.

Sheliah always welcomed guests with a beaming smile, a quick joke, and one of her famously delicious meals. She was happiest when she had someone to banter with; she loved matchmaking, and was always getting into a little mischief. If you took your eyes off her for more than a moment, you'd find her dancing with new friends, or sharing a laugh with a stranger.

More than anything, Sheliah loved laughing and family, both of which surrounded her until the very end. 

We know Sheliah is with her loving husband, John 'Jook' Munroe, again, taking road trips and relaxing on a warm beach. We can be sure he's smiling at his passenger princess in the golf cart.

Sheliah is survived by her sister, Geraldine Alger (Ontario); her son, Dwane (Anne); her daughter, Dawn (Kirk); grandchildren, who often referred to Sheliah as their first friend: Kristen (Colby), Meg (Brett) and great-grandchild, Charlotte, Alex, Grace (Justin) and Alec; as well as her beloved friends and neighbours.

Her family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Aberdeen Regional Hospital who laughed with Sheliah and took amazing care of her throughout her stay. A special thanks to an amazing nurse, Lily, for all the love and compassion you shared with all of us. Sheliah so enjoyed your chats and laughs. 

A private graveside service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
