Eileen Marie (Grant) Ehler, October 31, 1944-July 24, 2025

Eileen Marie (Grant) Ehler passed away peacefully surrounded in God’s grace and with the love of her family by her side.

Born in New Glasgow on October 31, 1944, she was the 3rd child born to Michael Grant and Pricilla (Kennedy) Grant.  She was a proud Highland Drive North Ender from the first of her days until the last.

Eileen was born into a musical family and the singing Grants loved sharing their talents that kept them very close as a family. They are already missing Eileen’s beautiful harmonies.

In 1967 Eileen married the love of her life, Clyde, and together they welcomed their two treasured sons, Larry and Troy (Stephanie) and their family grew with the blessings of their grandchildren who lovingly called her Grammie, Meghan (Damien), Jessica (Joel), Michael (Erin), Emilie (Brandon), Daniel (Maddie), and Brooklyn, along with 10 great-grandchildren and with another precious little girl arriving in a month,

Eileen is survived by her sisters, Frances Roussy, Theresa Walsh (Danny), Stacia MacIntosh (Doug), Jeannie Simpson (Lee); brothers, Bobby (Stephanie) Kevin (Susan), sisters-in-law, Rose Turvey, Beverly (Arnold) Grady and Trudy Grant; brothers in-law, Ken Henderson, Chester Ehler, Leon Ehler, Orn Ehler, Barry Ehler, and Ray Hayward and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband, Clyde Ehler; her parents; her siblings, Ronald, Pauline, Billy, Michael and Pricilla all in infancy; her sister, Elizabeth Henderson; brother, Donnie Grant; mother and father in-law, Mary and John Ehler; sister-in-law, Bernice Hayward; brothers-in-law, Steve Roussy, Michael Ehler, Harvey Ehler and Jimmie Ehler.

Though we are deeply heartbroken to say goodbye, we are comforted knowing she is safely in the arms of Jesus and is reuniting with her loved ones who she’s been patiently waiting to see since their passing.

There will be a Mass of Christian burial at St. John the Baptist Church New Glasgow on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 11am with Father Godwin Kaku as celebrant. There will be a gathering after mass downstairs in the Church Hall with a light lunch catered by the Catholic Women’s league. Eileen will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Family would like to thank all who helped look after Eileen through this journey; to the VON nursing and home care; the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor of the Aberdeen Hospital; and especially to Dr. Kwasnik and all the staff on the Palliative Care Unit. The kindness you’ve shown to Eileen and the rest of the family has given us a little peace during this difficult time. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
