
Lloyd Tattrie passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025. He was born in New Glasgow. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen (Chisholm); sister, Carolyn Croft (Jim); sisters-in-law: Margaret Jean Decoff (Ron) and Joan Chisholm Ellis (Charles); nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Dora (Mason) Tattrie. Lloyd loved books and, as a result, he opened and operated the Downtown Book Exchange for 38 years. Lloyd believed in supporting his community. He was Past President of New Glasgow Development Corp; Festival of the Tartans; Central Nova PC Association; Saint Andrew Society; Pictou County Christmas Parade. Being a diabetic, he was involved with the Canadian Diabetic Society as Branch Chairman, Provincial Fundraising Chairman and member of the National Fundraising Committee. He had been a Director of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of NS. He was very proud of being instrumental in the creation of one nursing regulator in NS (College of Licensed Practical Nurses and College of Registered Nurses). He was also a past member of the Scottish Societies of Nova Scotia; Heritage Committee, Town of New Glasgow; Canada Pension Plan Review Committee; Complaints Committee, College of RNs of NS; UCT; RC Legion Branch 34; Pictou County Tourist Association; Pictou County Community Futures Committee; NG Parking Commission; NG Lions Club; NG Business Improvement Commission; Pictou Centre PC Association; Pictou County Roots Society; and Chairman of the Board of Referees, Employment and Immigration Canada. No visitation or service by request. Private interment will be held. Donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of choice.
