Linda Lee (Cyr) Sheehan, June 10th, 1956 – September 21st, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our incredible mother, Linda Sheehan, aged 69, on September 21st, 2025, surrounded by love - fittingly on the last day of her favourite season, summer. She had the heart and soul of an angel and fought with courage and grace.
Mom was born on June 10th, 1956, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, where she lived and shared her kindness and zest for life with family and friends. She was raised alongside her brother and best friend, Dougie, who never left her side in her final days, always making her laugh and smile.
In her working career, she found employment that always suited her personality, making friends in Jasper, connecting people together at the phone company, sharing food at the Lobster Bar, and assisting people as a medical secretary. Friendship, communication, hospitality, and helping people were strong values Mom passed on to her children.
Her most important role was as a mother, raising her family on Dover Avenue. She made our house a loving home, which always offered an open door.
Mom embraced motherhood with her four beautiful children who brought her immense joy. She survived it surprisingly well, despite often hearing, "Please don’t tell Dad."
Jeff’s inability to stay off sports fields and hockey rinks provided her with many opportunities to glow with pride. She shared a love of music with all her children, but with Julie especially, as she kept her busy with music festivals and performances even though Julie wasn’t a fan of the spotlight, unlike her mother. They later enjoyed an unbreakable mother-daughter bond.
Daniel was the proverbial middle child who could do no wrong in his mother’s eyes. To prove that, he provided her with three treasures who stole her heart — three little girls who call her Nana Lynn.
Devin, with his unmatched ability to make her laugh, would join her in many social adventures, from Fort McMurray to Florida. Her gift of kindness and generosity lives on in all of us, but especially Devin.
Mom’s latest chapter of life began when she met Keith. Her lifelong dream of becoming a Snowbird in Florida was brought to life with Keith. An invitation by friends to stay for a month resulted in Mom and Keith spending 11 winters in the place she loved so much. Whether it was at the pool or at a house party, Mom was always the centre of attention. As she was loved at home, she was equally loved in Florida.
Her friends would say Mom was always moving over to include new friends, making sure no one was left out. She had the ability to make every person she met feel as though they’d known each other their entire lives. Her gift was hospitality and entertaining, anyone was welcome in her home. She treated her friends like family, and her children’s friends saw her as a second mother.
Linda is survived by her caring partner, Keith MacDonald; children, Jeff (Meagan) Sheehan, Julie Sheehan, Daniel (Adrienne) Sheehan, and Devin Sheehan, shared with her former husband and dear friend, Joe Sheehan; cherished granddaughters, Lennon, Delilah, and Maisie Sheehan; mother and stepfather, Colleen & Greer Turner; father, Doug (Marilyn) Cyr; brothers, Dougie (Kim) Cyr and Josh (Lacey) Cyr; sister-in-law, Marlene Sheehan; brother-in-law, Dan (Beverly) Sheehan.
She is also survived by Keith’s son, John (Jensina) MacDonald, and their children, Ella and Malcolm MacDonald, to whom she was affectionately known as Nana Linda. Linda also leaves behind beloved aunts, uncles, special cousins, nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
Linda was predeceased by maternal grandparents Harry & Colleen Trainor; paternal grandparents John & Tena Cyr; parents-in-law Betty & Dan Sheehan; and brother-in-law John Sheehan.
Mom, words can never describe how much we will miss and love you. You will be in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Summer Street Industries, 72 Park Street, New Glasgow, on Saturday, September 27th, from 3–5 p.m., followed by a reception. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
