It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of
Michael Robert Kelly, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and
friend. Mike passed away unexpectedly at Aberdeen Hospital, leaving
behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
Born in Halifax and raised in Westville, Mike was the son of
Dorothy Sandra (Inglis) Kelly and the late Patrick Theodore (Ted)
Kelly. He was a devoted husband to Wendy (Marshall) Kelly, and a
cherished member of a close-knit family that includes his sister,
Annette Kelly, niece Kelly Condon, nephew Jake Condon, and in-laws
Gary and Linda Marshall, and Sarah Marshall. He was predeceased by a
foster sister, Linda Millen.
Mike was a proud CUPE National Representative, serving since
2020. Prior to that, he worked for over a decade as a residential
counsellor with Highland Community Residential Services. A passionate
advocate, Mike held various leadership roles within CUPE, including
president of his local chapter, and was deeply respected for his
dedication to workers’ rights and community
care.
Outside of work, Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He found peace
in the woods, joy in fishing and hunting, and was quietly becoming
quite the gardener. His connection to nature was personal and
profound—a reflection of his spirit and
solitude.
For ten beautiful years, Mike and Wendy shared a life built
on devotion and companionship. Together, they were cat parents, garden
dreamers, and partners in every sense of the word.
"He walks now in the quiet woods beyond the
veil, where the stag watches and the earth
remembers."
Mike’s memory lives on in every rustling leaf,
every pawprint in the home he loved, and every bloom in the garden he
and Wendy envisioned together.
Special thanks to all of the first responders and the
Aberdeen Hospital emergency team for their dedication and kindness.
Your compassion during Mike’s final moments will never be
forgotten.
Visitation 4-7pm Thursday, November 13 in R.H. Porter Funeral
