Marilou Alice Sutherland, 62, of Ponds and formerly of Trenton, Nova Scotia, passed away on November 11, 2025.

Marilou will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and warm smile. Always willing to lend a hand, she worked for the Town of Trenton, first at Trenton Park and later at the Town Office.

A lifelong volunteer, Marilou was recognized for her dedication with the Premier of Nova Scotia’s Volunteer of the Year Award and the Kinette Lifetime Membership Award for her years of service and outstanding contributions.

Her granddaughters were the light of her life. She loved, loved, loved  spending time at the beach, travelling with Dan, and playing cards every Sunday with "the girls."

She is survived by her husband, Daniel MacNeil; son, Chris (Carla); granddaughters, Nora and Sylvia; sister, Terri (Michael); brother, Sandy; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Rose.

Visitation Monday, November 17, 4–7 p.m., R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High St., Trenton. Burial Service Tuesday, November 18 at 1 pm, Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton.

Marilou will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love and light she brought into the lives of those around her.
