It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Sandra "Sandy" Fennell, on November 29th, 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital.

She was born March 7th, 1951 in New Glasgow to the late Lawrence "Red" and Margaret "Peg" Urquhart. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as she dedicated her life to her family and friends. To know Sandy was to be welcomed as family. She opened her home to all and was known affectionately to many as ‘Momma Sandy’.

Sandy could often be found sitting in her favourite chair talking on her phone to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her - most often with one of her beloved pets on her lap or enjoying an old black and white movie.

The memories created over cups of tea or coffee during her delicious home-cooked meals or just gathered around her kitchen table will remain in our hearts forever. We will never forget her laughter, her witty and lighthearted ‘threats’ that everyone knew were filled with love, or the way she sang and danced to her favourite songs on the radio.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Robert "Bobby" Fennell; her sons: Gordon (Jennifer), Trevor (Crystal), Larry (Jordan) and Stephen (Kayla); her cherished grandchildren: Gordon, Mark, Shayleigh, Carly, Leland, Lochlan, Alex and Draven; great-grandchildren: Ivy, Estelle and a new one on the way; honorary grandchildren: Alex and Helena.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents Lawrence "Red" and Margaret "Peg" Urquhart.

Visitation 11am-1pm Tuesday, December 2, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, followed by service at 1pm, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.

In lieu of flowers and cards to the family, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Christmas Daddies in Sandy’s memory.
