It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Ina Rose Allen in New Glasgow, NS on January 8, 2026. She passed peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer.

Born in New Glasgow, NS on July 22, 1963, Ina attended Thorburn Consolidated and later East Pictou Rural High School. Throughout her life, Ina worked in retail, auto sales, restaurant industry, oil and gas sector in Alberta, and raised three beautiful children. Ina was known to be a loving, caring and thoughtful person to everyone she encountered. She had a positive energy with a great outlook on life and was determined to help others right to her final days. Ina loved to cook, travel, read, crochet, socialize and play cards, but above all, spend time with friends and family.

She will be missed by many, but especially by her husband, Ken; son, Jonathan Murray (M.J.); son, Justin Allen (Anna); daughter, Cailin Allen (Kaelen); brother, John Avery (Danielle), his children, Larrissa Mattie (Ryan), Tyler, Christian (Katie), and York; brother, William "Bill" Avery, his children, Benjamin (Katy) and Abigail; brother, Hugh Avery (Dante); brother-in-law, Gordon MacPherson, his children, Trevor (Wendy), Ashley MacPherson (Tyler), Chelsea Veiling (Danny) and Hilary MacPherson (Mike); in-laws, Jim and Ann (Cameron) Allen; brother-in-law, Steven Allen (Maureen); brother-in-law, Brian Allen (Jenn), his daughter, Emma; and many aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, and extended family. Also, Sandra (Crocket) Avery, Mundy Muir Avery, and Nancy Caulier (Wade).

Ina was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Harriet (Turner) Avery; sister Julie MacPherson; brothers, Brian and Doug.

Heartfelt thank you and appreciation from the family to the Aberdeen Palliative Care doctors, surgeons, nurses, and staff for their care and compassion during this difficult time; the VON nurses and staff, who provided home care; and friends/family for their love and support during Ina's illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit (c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation), or the VON in Ina's memory.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, NS.

Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the summer with details posted at a later date.
