Michael Johnson Vickers, 73, of Dartmouth, N.S, passed away on February 9, 2026 at Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, Palliative Care Unit, after a sudden short illness.

Born January 6, 1953, he grew up in Dartmouth. Mike moved with his family to Upper Nine Mile River in 1988, where he managed the Nova Scotia Liquor Store in Kennetcook. In the early 2000's, he and his family moved back to Dartmouth.

He loved the outdoors. Mike enjoyed walks with his dogs. Goldie, his little Cocker Spaniel, was the first who in the course of her life, shared her time with Star, his German Shepherd. Then came Buster, another German Shepherd. Izzy, a Valley Bull, became his constant companion in 2013. And now Ralph, his little (or not so little) Pug was his last best friend. They were all part of his family.

Mike was always doing something outside, be it fishing, hunting in his younger years, his huge garden at his home in Nine Mile River, where he grew the best vegetables. He even raised laying hens, (a rooster briefly, called Razor) and meat chickens.

Always an avid conversationalist, he had a sense of humor that was endearing to others. There was always a comeback joke, often with a sarcastic twist. There are many funny stories over the years.

Mike was the son of Johnson and Alice Vickers (predeceased), of Dartmouth, N.S. Michael was also predeceased by his youngest son, Wesley, (Dartmouth) in April 2025. He is survived by his oldest son, Bradley, Halifax, and Bradley and Wesley's mother, his former wife, Patricia Conrod.

He is beloved by his friends and family, and will be missed dearly.

A public graveside service will be held 1:30pm, Thursday, June 18, at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens (Prayer Garden), 767 Main Street., Dartmouth. Reception to follow at North Woodside Community Centre, 230 Pleasant Street, Dartmouth.

An empty space remains. Loved and missed forever. Fly free.
