Jessie Elizabeth "Betty" (Ferguson) MacKay,
formerly of Mt. William/Trenton, passed away on Thursday, March 12,
2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Plainfield on May 24, 1932, Betty was a daughter of
the late George and Victoria (Langille) Ferguson.
Betty attended Pictou Academy and graduated from Maritime
Business School. She was employed by Central
Agencies Insurance, Truro, and Douglas Ross Insurance, Amherst and
Wearwell Garments, Stellarton. She was an avid bowler (60 years),
photographer, knitter, crocheter, crafter, seamstress, cake decorator,
musician, old time dancer; but her family was, as she described, her
"biggest love".
Betty is survived by her son, Ivon (Adele) and grandsons,
Brett and Jace. She is also survived by brother-in law, Emerson Hale
and sister-in-law, Joan Ferguson.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Sandy; brothers, Nugent (Jean), Ivon (Dorothy), Alonzo and sister,
Peggy
There will be no visitation, and a private family graveside
service will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later
date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may
be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction
of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
