It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Audrey Theresa Cameron, at age 100 and 2 days. Mom was born March14, 1926 to Hector and Clara Gardiner in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton.

She spent her last 6 years at Whispering Tide, Glen Haven Manor. There, Mom received the best care and love anyone could ever wish for their loved one. Mom was affectionally called Nanny by staff and in return she loved all of them as they became her family as well. She was so happy there. Words cannot express how grateful our family is to the staff of Whispering Tide.

Surviving are children: Jacqueline Connors (Glenn), Patricia Woods, Heather Duncan, Greg Cameron, Roy Cameron (Tina), Kathy DeCoste (Clem) and daughter-in-law, Vicky Cameron; grandchildren: Chris Connors (Heidi), Morgan (Nick) MacLeod, Jacob Woods, Shane Duncan, Ashley (Josh) Beaver, Robert Cameron, Amelia Blazer Cameron, Kyle DeCoste (Deb Karhson) and Nicole (Mike) Spurrell; great-grandchildren: Blake and Logan Connors, Cale, Ty and Noa MacLeod, Jet and Fin Beaver and Audre Amara Karhson DeCoste.

She was predeceased by son, Harold R. Cameron, granddaughter, Heather Connors and 16 siblings. Mom was the last surviving member of her family.

Mom, "The Cookie Lady", was well known for baking, especially Cape Breton pork pies and, of course, her chocolate chip cookies. One never left her home without a few cookies in hand. To Mom family was the most important thing in the world. She worked hard all her life not for material things but for family.

Mom strived to teach us kindness and charity to others. And if one was a prince or pauper, it made no difference to Mom as long as you were kind to others.

Visitation 6-8pm Friday, March 20, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral Saturday, March 21, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 390 High St., New Glasgow, NS with Words of Remembrance at 10:50am followed by Funeral Mass at 11am.

In lieu of donations, please do an act of kindness in memory of Mom.

We miss you already Mom. You were our rock.

"Do onto others as you would have them do unto you."
