It is with great sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mildred (Millie) Dunn, 76, of Lyons Brook, at the Aberdeen Hospital on March 28, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 5, 1949, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Nan) Fraser McCullough of Mount Thom, where she lived until moving to Lyons Brook as a teenager.
Millie was a cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and, most importantly, a proud grandmother whose warmth and laughter touched all who knew her.
She devoted 52 years to hairdressing in her community—more than a profession, it was her way of connecting with others, lifting spirits, and sharing kindness. Her chair was not only a place of style and care, but also one of conversation, comfort, and friendship.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Robert Dunn, Lyons Brook; daughters, Adele Dunn, New Glasgow, and Sonya Dunn, Trenton; stepdaughter, Cheryl Irving, Calgary; and her adored granddaughters, Sophia, Kylie, and Khloe. She is also survived by her sisters, Lynn Langille, Lyons Brook, and Isabel Corbin, Lyons Brook, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Millie deeply valued her friendships, which brought her constant laughter and companionship. She fondly remembered those who went before her, especially her dear friends Hilda and Joan, often speaking of them with warmth. I am sure they are already busy catching up.
She had a remarkable gift for humour and found joy in everything. Her laughter was constant, her spirit bright, and her ability to uplift others will never be forgotten. She brought joy into every room and left a lasting impression on all she met.
Millie loved decorating, especially at Christmas. Her home was filled with warmth, beauty, and festive spirit, creating cherished memories for family and friends. The year never felt complete without her annual Boxing Day pizza party.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at Aberdeen Hospital, with special thanks to Amy for her compassion, comfort, and dignity during Millie’s final days.
Her life was one of love, resilience, and connection. She will be dearly missed and forever treasured.
A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 12-2:30pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 29, Trenton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
