Lynne Marie MacKay, September 2, 1947 – March 23, 2026

Lynne Marie MacKay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on March 23, 2026, in Rockley, Barbados, at the age of 78.

Born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Lynne was the daughter of Bill Wilson and Genevieve (Kelly) Wilson.

She leaves behind her life-long partner of 60 years and husband of 57 years, Roderick MacKay. Loving mother to her three daughters, Aarin (Graeme Spicer), Aarika, and Andrea MacKay. Proud grandmother to Kiera and Kiegan Machat. She is also survived by her siblings Marsha Wilson, Patricia Murphy (Greg), and Kelly Wilson (Antoinette Rao), as well as her niece, Jessica Colmenares.

Lynne and Rod spent 45 wonderful years in Waverley, Nova Scotia, where they built a life filled with family, friendship, and community. In later years, they were often found side by side in Adirondack chairs at the front of their home, affectionately known as the "gatekeepers of Ridge Ave.", always ready to welcome neighbours and friends for a chat or a visit.

Lynne had her father’s bright blue eyes and her mother’s remarkable gift for conversation. She made friends easily and nurtured deep, lasting friendships that spanned decades.

She loved to entertain and was never happier than when preparing a meal or arriving with a thoughtfully made dish to share. Whether provisioning a boat or her home in Barbados, Lynne had a way of ensuring that everything and everyone was taken care of. If you needed something, she likely had it.

Her home was always open. Christmas Eve became a cherished tradition, filled with seafood chowder, friends dropping by for a drink by the fire, and even the occasional visit from Mummers.

Lynne carried herself with effortless style and elegance, whether heading to Costco or out for dinner. She had a unique talent for transforming everyday fashion into something special, making Guy's Frenchys look like Gucci.

When asked what she did, Lynne would tell you that she was a "Domestic Engineer." Quite simply, she was unapologetically Lynne.

She loved to laugh and to tell a good story, often at her own expense. Her humour, warmth, and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to share their stories and celebrate Lynne’s life at a Celebration of Life to be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at The Inn on the Lake, Waverley.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to causes close to Lynne’s heart, Parkinsons or Alzheimers
