Lynn MacDonald (Oct 18th, 1956 - June 2nd, 2026)

Lynn Marie MacDonald, 69, of New Glasgow, NS, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care ward on June 2nd, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Lynn is survived by her loving husband Hugh, son Grant, sister Karen, cat Marley, and brothers Gordon, Karl and Doug.

Lynn was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia in 1956 to parents Jean and Wallace "Wally" Stensrud. One of five children, she was an avid nature and art enthusiast. After graduating from New Glasgow High School in 1974 Lynn travelled through Europe, earned a science degree, and had a long-credited career as a Registered Dietician at the Trillium Health Network for which she earned numerous awards.

Lynn will be remembered for her love of birdwatching, art galleries, nature walks, and any opportunity for a home seamstress project. She kept a scrabble dictionary and crossword by her bed and always felt tempted to apply for the Amazing Race Canada. She dedicated her career as a Registered Dietician towards helping the sick become healthy again, and her high school yearbook quote read: "Be good, even at the cost of your self-respect". She lived a life full of love and devotion and will be remembered by her friends, family, her large cat Marley and the dozens of colleagues she worked with and mentored along the way.

The Visitation is Monday, June 8th from 6-8pm at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, NS, B2H 3G5. The Funeral Service is Tuesday, June 9th at 11 am, at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 37 Mountain Rd., New Glasgow, NS, B2H 3W4.

Donations to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
