MacDonald, Malcolm “Mac”. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Malcolm “Mac” MacDonald, 60, Pictou Landing, on April 2, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late John Malcolm and Edith (Nicholson) MacDonald. Mac was in the Armed Forces for nine years, serving as a radar technician. He then went to Imperial Oil for 12 years. At the time of his passing, he was a long-time employee with Connors Transfer. Mac was an avid four-wheeler with a love of Newfoundland. He completed the Johnny Miles 1/2 Marathon and could often be seen walking or talking on the Samson Trail. He was the owner of Willow Avenue Grocery, Past President of the Westside Community Centre and Head of the Pee Wee Minor Hockey. He is survived by the love of his life Ruth (Hope); son: Bobby, Ontario; daughters: Ruthie (Brian) Semple, New Glasgow; Katie, Westville; loving Grampie to Hayleigh, Kennedy, Emma, Annika, Jeffery and Hannah; sisters: Hilda Oxley; Sherry (John) Wishloff; brother: Keith MacDonald; brothers-in-law: John (Kathy) Hope; David (Rebecca) Hope; sisters-in-law: Irene (Danny) Leblanc; Tyna (Mike) Hope; loving uncle to Leslie, Sarah, Kerry, Shannon, John and Amy; father-in-law David (Patrice) Hope; his best buddy Eric Ibbitson. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Keith Oxley and sister-in-law Diane Knock. Visitation will take place at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow on Tuesday, April 6, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, at 2 pm in the First United Church, Trenton with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Family flowers only please.
