Ralph M. "Ralphie" Cameron
Cameron, Ralph M. It is with great sadness that the family of Ralph (Ralphie) Merle Cameron of Trenton, announces his passing on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Glen Haven Manor. Born in New Glasgow on February 5, 1932, he was a son of the late Ralph Cameron Sr. and Dolly (Kennedy) Cameron. He was employed at the Trenton Car Works for over 45 years. Ralphie had a passion for sports and will be remembered for his outstanding athletic ability in hockey and softball and is an inductee of the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame. In later years he became an avid golfer, arriving at the course before sunrise to play a round with his early morning golf buddies. Ralphie was also very involved in the community, serving on the Trenton Town Council, coaching minor hockey, softball and power skating. He was an active member of his church where he served many callings. He is survived by daughter: Deborah (Bradley) Cameron, Westville; son: Scott (Lorna), Trenton; daughters: Lesley (George) Kennedy, Trenton; Cheryl (Tony) O’Hara, Ontario; Wendy (Brent) Geldart, Fall River; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sisters: Vivian MacDonald, New Glasgow; Margie (Jim) MacNeil, New Glasgow; Joyce (Rod) MacIntyre, Little Harbour; Patsy (Bud) Garagan, B.C.; Betty (Bill) Petter, Ont.; Eleanor (Reg) Hilchie, N.B.; brothers: Jim (Vickie), Halifax; Murray (Kathy), B.C. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan and a brother, Robert. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Abercrombie Rd, New Glasgow with President Steven MacDonald officiating.
